Where did the weekend go?!

We had quite the busy weekend! Knowing that we only have a couple more weekends that we would be free before being out of town for 4 weekends in a row, we decided that we needed to make the most of our time. Fortunately, it was an absolutely gorgeous weekend here in P-town. Here's a quick run-down of our weekend...

We decided to spend the day Saturday working on some more outdoor projects. Scot worked on the second culvert retaining wall. This one was a little more challenging than the first one, because Kim insisted that the walls be the same distance from the driveway on both sides. That meant he had to dig out a lot of earth, and cut off about 5 feet of culvert pipe. Here Scot and Matt work on the digging. After lots of frustration, and some assistance from Scot's friend, Mike, they eventually got the culvert pipe completely cut-off.

Sunday morning, Scot got a good start putting the bricks in. We only had a little time for outdoor projects on Sunday, because (as you'll read below) Sunday= football day.

My project for Saturday was to install the landscape lights. I put some along the walk-way, as well as several spot-lights in the plant areas. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the finished product!

It was good while it lasted, but football season has officially reared its ugly face again. (I kid, I kid.) Therefore, as I mentioned above, Sunday was all about the football. Andy had his first game of the season today. I'm slowly learning more and more about football, so the games are getting a little more interesting for me. Here the proud football dad and proud football step-mom cheer on their number "34!"

Here's Andy in action (#34). He normally plays center.

And here is "Intense Football Scot." For those of you that know Scot, you know that he rarely cusses and is typically very laid back. Well, let's just say that on game day, that mild-mannered Scot has a tendency to take the day off.

And here is a tired Andy after the game with Coach Monty. It was a really great game today! They got on the scoreboard first, but then fell behind for most of the game. However, at the end they were able to comeback for a 25-22 win with only seconds left on the clock! It was very exciting!

Since Andy's first game was at the same time as the Chicago Bears' first game, Scot recorded the game to watch when we got home. That, of course, meant that we had to avoid speaking with anyone that was listening to the game, and we couldn't listen to the radio on the way home for fear that they may give a score update. Scot watched the game when we returned home, and his joy from Andy's win was quickly replaced with disappointment from the Bears game (Chargers beat the Bears 14-3). I got tired of listening to his attempts to communicate with Rex Grossman through the TV, so I went outside to finish up some things on the landscape lighting. Well, I have learned not to keep the windows open when Scot is watching the Bears! I could hear him "coaching" Rex all the way outside (and I'm sure the neighbors could, as well!)

That's about it for the weekend. We're both resting on the coach now, watching the MTV Video Music Awards. I was anxious to see Britney Spears' trainweck/comeback performance. For those of you who missed it, you really didn't miss it. Sad, really.

Oh, we ordered a new chair for the living room a couple of months ago. It finally came in so we picked it up this weekend, too. As you can see, Sammy approves of it!

I can't help it ... the second I heard, "It's Britney, b**ch," the first and only thing I thought of was Dave Chappelle saying, "I'm Rick James, b**ch!!" Somehow, I doubt that's what Miss Trainwreck was going for...
